Your Words Mean Nothing To Me

In March and April of 2014, Tia had her first solo exhibit at the South Dallas Cultural Center.On display at the exhibit were portrait photos of fifteen women.Each woman selected words to describe how she views herself and they were also asked to select words that identified the negative perceptions that other people had of them.These words were creatively incorporated into the photos.Here is Tia’s statement about this exhibit that she avidly named, “Your Words Mean NothingTo Me”

~~~ This artwork was done to encourage women to embrace happiness and feel empowerment by disallowing negative views to dictate who they are and who they can become. In my manipulated photographs, I specifically used natural light versus artificial light to capture the idea of natural beauty ~~~

Natural beauty will be the future endeavor for Tia and her imaginative lens.Shapes, sizes, and curves will challenge the stereotypes of what is normal and beautiful.Tia’s next photo canvass and artistic inspiration will be the human body….
